Lightweight PP/GF composite GMT board

Designed specifically for the future of automotive lightweighting, Ritsufeng's Lightweight Glass Fiber Thermoplastic Sheet (LW-GMT) represents a revolutionary breakthrough in composite materials. Through advanced needle punching and thermoforming processes, we seamlessly integrate polypropylene (PP) resin with high-performance glass fiber. This results in a top-tier composite material with exceptional application flexibility, significantly reducing vehicle weight while perfectly maintaining superior structural strength and flexural rigidity.

Product Description

This material is specifically designed for low-pressure 3D molding processes. During the reheating process before hot pressing, our LW-GMT sheet can expand to 1.5 to 3 times its original thickness. This superior "lofting" property allows it to easily handle highly complex geometries and customized 3D profiles, perfectly meeting the stringent molding specifications of automotive manufacturers.

Our sheets and needle-punched rolls offer exceptional processing flexibility, allowing for simultaneous hot-pressing bonding with multi-layer surface materials (such as PE film, automotive trim fabrics, or other composite materials) during production. This innovative process eliminates the need for additional adhesives , significantly improving production line efficiency and substantially reducing overall manufacturing costs.

Thanks to LFJ's exclusive fiber processing technology, LW-GMT exhibits superior sound absorption and noise reduction performance while maintaining extremely low VOC emissions. It is a perfect environmentally friendly upgrade solution that completely replaces traditional PU foam, heavy-duty GMT boards, wood, plywood, fiberboard, and rigid polymer foam.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why choose PP/GF composite boards instead of traditional natural fiber (wood powder/hemp fiber) boards for automotive interiors?

While natural fiber composite panels were once popular in interior trim, they had a fatal flaw: water absorption. In humid climates, natural fibers absorb moisture, causing severe deformation and dimensional instability in parts, and producing a strong musty smell inside the cabin. LFJ's PP/GF (polypropylene/glass fiber) sheets are completely hydrophobic (waterproof). They maintain precise dimensions and structural rigidity throughout the vehicle's entire lifespan and remain 100% odorless, significantly reducing warranty complaints from automakers.

2. During the lamination of the surface fabric, are any toxic adhesives required for the PP/GF board?

No. One of the biggest advantages of using thermoplastic PP matrix is its self-adhesive properties. During thermoforming, the surface of the PP/GF sheet naturally becomes adhesive when heated. This allows you to simultaneously bond decorative fabrics, synthetic leather, or acoustic nonwovens directly to the substrate in a single stamping stroke, completely eliminating the need for VOC-emitting solvent-based adhesives.
